Rated R ****
Four teenage friends make a pack to lose their virginity by graduation and a wager on who will lose it first. This plot line is not original, but the film is one of the first of its kind. Character development is done well and the acting is perfectly fine, but it is the potty humor mixed with minor slapstick that makes this flick worth watching. One glaring problem does exist, however; in this day and age, the mere proposition that these four attractive, halfway intelligent, upper middle class guys were still virgins at the ages of 17 or 18 is preposterous.

Four elderly friends have kept a dark secret for a lifetime. The editing leaves much to be desired; the screenplay is not half as fascinating as the novel; and there may be holes one could drive a truck through. Nevertheless, this flick sucks you in. The acting is good; the ambiance and general feel of the film is creepy; and the story is interesting. On a cool rainy night, turn off the lights, make some hot chocolate, and curl up on the couch for a painless evening of mindless splendor.
Famous Lines:
Eva: "Dance with me, you little toad."

Horror

American Psycho
2000
Directed by Mary Harron; Novel Written by Bret Easton Ellis; Screenplay by Mary Harron

Rated R ****
On the outside, Patrick Bateman, a high powered V.P. on Wall Street, is polished, handsome, intelligent, and witty, but on the inside he is a maniac hell bent on killing as many people as he can. It really does not matter who he kills; women, men, friends, lovers, business associates, and destitute people. This flick is beyond sick. You will never look at your stockbroker the same way again.
Famous Lines:
Patrick: "There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there."

The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand; most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it."
