Numerology, Life Path, The Soul's Urge, Expression Numbers & Your Inner Dreams

Numerology

Numerologists use the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 22 to build a Numerology chart. Each number has a distinct meaning. The numbers 11 and 22 are often referred to as "master numbers" and some professionals believe they hold great power. Individuals who possess these numbers in their charts are often blessed with higher learning capabilities, great success in work, and may hold a high degree of logic, creativity, and ingenuity.

There are different types of Numerology Charts:

The Life Path Chart: It is formulated by calculating the numbers in the individual's birth date. It represents the hard-wired traits one assumed in the womb and these fated distinctions follow the individual for life. Certain traits acquired at birth may seem obscured by life choices and circumstances. For instance, a person could be born with the soul and talent of a modern day Picasso, but if his or her parents push the individual into a different profession like nuclear medicine or underwater basket weaving, the passion, drive, or mere feasibly of becoming a famous painter is suppressed. Have you ever watched a small child in a multi-product retail store? Some kids will gravitate toward electronics, some will be dazzled by the arts and crafts section, some are magnetically drawn to the automotive section, some cannot resist wandering through the apparel departments, and some are mesmerized by the pet aisle. What makes one child interested in teaching others; one child interested in telling jokes and making people laugh, and yet another interested in tinkering with building blocks alone in their rooms? It is actually simple. These drives dwell deep inside the soul; in fact, these feelings are an integral part of the soul.

For a moment, think hard about what you wanted to be when you grew up. Did you dream of becoming a successful fireman, cop, housewife, politician, doctor, educator, parent, sculptor, or actor? Did you pursue your heartfelt aspirations or did you change your mind a hundred times and finally settle in your chosen career after finishing school? Were you, for some reason beyond your control, unable to pursue your dreams? Has it haunted you for life, or did you find a reasonable backup plan that worked out for the best? It is a proven fact that those people who actually work in a field they absolutely love have lower blood pressure, a greater sense of self, an elevated feeling of achievement, and a strange calmness that radiates into their work.

It is important to remember that many variables are involved in determining what a person is made of. Contradictions between Numerology Charts are not exceptional, and it up to the individual to discover the common thread and basic traits that run through each person's schema.

The Expression Chart:
 
It is sometimes referred to as the "Destiny" number. It is calculated by converting one's full birth name into numbers, adding them, and then "reducing" them to the lowest number possible. This chart shows a person what their "ammo" is on this earth in this lifetime. One's talents, potential, gifts, and attitudes are reflected in this chart and should be used to complete ones destiny, or "mission". While the Life Path Chart tells a person whom they are inside, the Expression Chart is guide to what they must accomplish while alive. These two charts frequently intersect and contradict each other and that is absolutely normal and expected. Overcoming obstacles throughout life is the name of the game.
In simpler terms: if a person is temperamental and quick to judgment and it shows up clearly in the Life Path Chart while at the same time the Expression Chart screams patience and open-mindedness, the person may be bottling up emotions inside and their life mission may be to take their own lives back by making choices for themselves, standing up for their own beliefs, or simply becoming less of a doormat. On the other hand, if the Life Path Chart clearly shows gentle and patient traits but the Expression Chart points to an impatient and harsh demeanor, the individual may have been picked on by bullies, disappointed with choices they have made, unhappy in a relationship or work, or just plain confused and fed up. In that case, the person's mission in life may be to calm down and become more easy-going and sensitive to others. Remember, if a life mission were easy we would never do it. Obstacles to a happy existence are natural reminders that the meaning of life is hidden in the individual soul.

The Soul's Urge:
It is sometimes referred to as the "heart's desire". It is calculated by converting the vowels of one's full birth name into numbers, adding them, and then "reducing" them to the lowest number possible. The chart exists in a realm of its own. It represents your likes and dislikes, yearnings, and preferences.

Internal Desires:
This chart represents one's deep-seated desires (often subconscious), repressed fantasies, or perceived unattainable wishes. It is calculated by converting the consonants of one's full birth name into numbers, adding them, and then "reducing" them to the lowest number possible. This is the most "fly by the seat of your pants" chart because it deals with the murky realm of the subconscious mind and is hard to nail down to specifics. But it is fun and worth a look (or a laugh).

The Day of One's Birth:
This complements the Life Path Chart by assigning characteristics to the numerical date of birth. For instance, if one were born on the 28th day of any month, he or she would share the uniqueness of the number 28. Sometimes the description of the birthday number conflicts with the Life Path number. This is normal. People are born, they grow, they learn, and their tastes change with age. In addition, the nature versus nurture argument is alive and well in numerology. One must look through the descriptions and think about the different events that have happened in his or her life.

Quite frankly, read the description of your birth number then find someone who shares the same birth date and compare notes. Be prepared to be creeped out.

Skeptics Corner:
The author of this article has done all of the charts numerous times (no pun intended). Every single Numerology Chart for my name and birthday are 85% 1's and 11's. The characteristics of these numbers would indicate that I am Innovative (sometimes, if it is a special project that I have dreamed up as opposed to some task that is put upon me); Fiercely Independent (stubborn and opinionated are more fitting words); a Born Leader (granted, I refuse to follow anyone off a cliff like an ignorant Lemming but reluctant to take the lead against it); Success Oriented (I would rather win the lottery or invent the "next big thing" and never work again); Inspiration (people tell me I am more of a muse for their success); and Creativity (I could not have built this site without it). The scariest thing is that my astrological chart(s), Numerology chart(s), and even my Chinese Astrology and Runes say THE SAME EXACT THING.

How to calculate the Life Path Number:

1. An individual is born on December 19, 1976 (12-19-76).
2. Take the birth month of December, the 12th month.
3. 1 + 2 = 3
4. Take the Birth Day, the 19th.
5. 1 + 9 = 10
6. Sense double digits are unacceptable (except in the case of 11 and 22), they must be "reduced."
7. Take that 10 and reduce it: 1 + 0 = 1
8. Take the full Birth Year, 1976.
9. 1 + 9 + 7 + 6 = 23
10. That 23 further reduces: 2 + 3 = 5
11. Now take all the numbers and add together. 3 + 1 + 5 = 9
12. The Life Path Number is 9.

This life path indicates a person who dances to the own beat of their inner drum, is independent and strong willed, interested in succeeding financially and socially, and a natural born leader. Perhaps on of the strongest indicators that this soul was deposited in this world to enlighten and lead others to great things. This power does not come gift wrapped however; the individual should understand that the cosmos expects he or she to first identify that inner independence and start thinking for themselves at an early age. From there, the person may expand on those leadership and independence qualities by actually putting these talents to good use. To become an effective, level-headed leader is more difficult than it seems. Gaining respect and admiration from underlings is a monumental step to achieving true success.

This life path indicates a person who is highly intelligent, loving, passive, diplomatic, analytical, logical, and practical. Usually, these souls crave to learn new things and apply them to what they already know. What they do already know is that the spirit within them is a powerful source of energy, inspiration, and insight. 7 is a powerful number in the universe and speaks volumes about the Life path individual attached to it. Basically, this Life Path must daydream and imagine in order to touch their spiritual side. This life path indicates a person who is go getting, confident, and successful. Rarely do they find time to explore the realm of fantasy and dreams. Everything is seen as concrete and 3-dimentional. They have an aggressive, intimidating, and ambitious outlook that assists them in building a perfect, insulated world for themselves. Money and power are catchphrases for these people, and rarely will they stop until they the apex of the goals they have set for themselves.

In addition, social status is very important to them. It shows their tenacity to attain material success, often through innovation and independence. Not scared of competition, the Life Path 8 will follow through with their ideas until they succeed, making them fabulous assets in business. Unfortunately, when this Life Path goes negative it can really get bad. This life path indicates a person who must learn to use their inner empathy, munificence, and giving natures to help and shelter others in need. Seen as trustworthy and moral, this Life Path is rarely bigoted or pushy and uses their well-defined sense of charity to spread joy and humanitarian aid to those less fortunate. Highly sensitive, these people must guard against getting their feelings hurt by unintentional barbs from others.
